One of my goals this year is to read 12 books. I used to love reading and I still do but it has become increasingly harder for me to get through enough books or to put in the time I used to. To be honest a lot of my time last year was spent on social media and that needs to change. So I’m returning to my first love.
I came across a great reading challenge on Adventurous Kate that sounded really fun and would get me back into the habit of reading again. The challenge is to read books within a particular theme. Some suggestions she listed were
- books by women of color
- memoirs from people you admire
- books about food
- books about privilege in America
My challenge: 12 books by women of color (not only Black authors)
I’ve begun reading Swing Time by Zadie Smith and it just seems logical to continue along that vein. I also want to expand my horizons and get to know more contemporary women writers. This challenge will be a great way to do so.
